I bought my first UT shirt today.

I think I'm gonna like it here.

wow.

that is the one word i can use to describe my life right now. it seems that at certain points in your life, things go really good for you.

it seems to be my turn. let me elaborate.

i finally received my financial aid two days ago from UT. even though it took them from february to august to get thier stuff together, it was well worth the wait. despite my parent's income, they still gave me a ridiculous amount of grant money. i guess it pays to have good grades. all my tuition and books are paid for with extra money to spend on at least half of my rent....for both semesters! UTA only gave me enough to wipe myself with....meaning basically nothing. So a better school with more money?? i think i've made the right decision.

also, things are going great with me and my girlfriend. we've decided to try the dreaded "long-distance" relationship. we know it will be difficult, but we feel that our friendship was so strong, that our relationship has a chance. and if for some reason it doesn't work out (time-wise, not being able to see eachother as often, etc...) then we are both mature enough to realize whats best for our strong bond to continue.

i'm so excited about life right now.

i go back to lubbock in 2 days for about a week, just to catch up with family and the old buddies. then it's off to austin on august 19th......so here's to me!

cheers.

In ATX!

Friday, June 30, 2006

So summer is here....and I believe that bullets will be a great format for this entry.

  • Work has been work. The orientation job has actually been the best job I've ever had. I've met a ton of freshmen who seem to idolize the fact that I'm a sophomore. They ask all these questions and want to add me as friends on myspace and facebook. I swear I feel like a loser when I have tons of friends requests from people I honestly don't remember. But oh well, that's part of the job. The R.A job is cool as well. I don't do anything, get a free meal plan, and a room for cheap! Hollister is still there. I basically go when I want (which is only about once or twice every two weeks). Anyways, I think I'll quit there soon.
  • Also very exciting and quickly apporaching is my orientation. Ironically, I'll miss my orientation leader job to attend my own orientation. But yeah, that'll be fun. I LOVE AUSTIN! While I'm down there, I'll be signing my lease to my new apartment!!! It feels great being an adult.
  • Most importantly is my vacation me and yvette and my family will be taking. We are doing a San Antonio vacation after my orientation. Sea World, Fiesta Texas, the riverwalk.....basically anything and everything you can do in San Antonio. That week should be fun. Sadly it will be the last time Yvette and I really get to hang out.
  • This is what will be the hardest thing to leave, but I've come to realize that your true friends will always be apart of you. No matter how far you are, they will always be so close.
